Isn’t censure the safest play though? No risk of putting Hunter Biden or Eric Ciamarella on the stand since that has the potential to get messy for Democrats. They’re already likely to take a hit on the Horowitz report that’s scheduled to drop. Impeachment doesn’t need a criminal charge but when you’re talking about a specific criminal charge as a basis for impeachment—the charge would be helpful lol.

As I’ve said more times than I can count, prosecutors don’t exactly fall all over themselves to prosecute an obstruction case with no underlying crime. For the simple reason it’s an uphill battle to convince a jury to bring a conviction where the investigation didn’t produce a crime.

If Democrats take that to the Senate, republicans will rightly call the Russian investigation, a scheme, intended to entrap Trump in an obstruction charge.

And they will be dead-on target.
