It isn't. The name of the religion is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
The colloquial name 'Mormonism' refers to a prophet in the Book of Mormon. A statue of Mormon blowing a trumpet is on top of the temple buildings. It represents the glad tidings of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Not a central character. Jesus Christ is the central character. The priesthood you speak of is the same as that of Melchizedek, and hence is named in honor of that priesthood. The other is named to honor a holder of that priesthood, Aaron (brother of Moses), which also appears in the Bible.

No. It is a Christian church. It worships God and Jesus Christ. It does not use the Dead Sea Scrolls as scripture.
It uses the Bible, which describes events in the Mid-east, the Book of Mormon, which describes events in America, and the Doctrine and Covenants, which are writings of prophets of today's times.
All of them contain the same teachings of God and Jesus Christ.

Did you know that the members pay for their own buildings and in some cases, actually construct them (I've done this!).
There are no Masons in the LDS Church. Free Masons have their own buildings and their own religion.
