Question for JPP leftist economic experts

Teflon Don

I'm back baby
So the socialist mayor of NYC has this grand plan of opening a government run grocery store that is allegedly going to lower food prices for his constituents.

My question for the board experts is how exactly is going to do that?

The net profit for grocery stores is anywhere from 1-2.5%

Where is he going to squeeze out the waste to find savings? Does he have a magic formula to pay less for eggs and beef than Kroger or Wal-Mart?

Asking for a friend.

The groceries won't be any cheaper, they'll just be subsidized by people who actually pay taxes, if there are any left by the time Commie Mamdani gets done. And rest assured whatever cheap groceries he manages to stock that store with will be of lesser quality. Just ask anybody who lives in Cuba, or anybody who lived through the Soviet Union era.

Typical leftist response. If something doesn't stroke your confirmation bias, it must be untrue. Fucking dopes.

For beginners, it will remove the need for rent, property taxes, and profit margins

Well I do applaud you for at least attempting to answer

But there will still be need for:

Labor
Utilities
Insurance
Credit card transaction fees
Transportation
Logistics
Employee theft
Spoilage
Shoplifters

So how much do you think that 1-2.5% profit will increase to that they can pass off to consumers?

It's simple:

He's going to spend $30 million in taxpayer money to prop them up. That's how socialism always rolls. OPM of the masses and all that.
