Nor would I call you a 'nigger' BAC....for the very same reasons.....I was just commenting on a truism....some people use the word here almost as often as I hear the word
from rap music....almost. I just find it strange that certain words are prohibited or condoned according to the race of the user....

The text books they order end up being used all over the nation because of printing costs.

The largest block of consumers who buy rap music are white people .. by far. At those concerts, white attendees rap "nigger' right along with the artist without problems. Context.
I completely understand where TTQ is coming from, and most often she qualifies her comments with RACIST white men .. which is often overlooked by those who want to condemn her.
I think Evince is fierce and tenacious about her disgust of racism, and she takes no prisoners in expressing that disgust. I applaud that.

Red neck is a slur by its very definition....it can be used in a humorous way but it is still a slur...an uneducated white farm laborer, especially from the South.a bigot or reactionary, especially from the rural working class. Its the same with the term 'cracker' ....Derogatory term for lower income Caucasians in the South. Also know as po' white trash. Usually make their living as sharecroppers. The issues of race require conversations with people who are willing to have these conversations respectfully and civilly. I have no problem with respectful and civil conversations on any subject, especially those about race in this country.
All white men, white people are not racist. There are white men on this board that defend your right to speak freely about the issues. How are they racist?
WE need more dialogue, not less, in my opinion.

Growing up. calling me a nigger was like the ringing of the boxing bell .. requiring me to put a boot up a racist ass. That boot was a major motivator for me during my martial arts years.
Today .. I respond to that ignorance much differently .. starting with the knowledge that I'm smarter than any moron who would stoop to using and with the knowing that they use it because of their own sense of inferiority. I respond like the journalist in the OP .. intellectually .. much more satisfying than the boot.
Rappers turned that ignorance around for many and took the sting right out of it.
As I often say to the kids I mentor .. it's not about what anyone calls you .. it's about what you answer to.
