The basis of American conservatism is capitalism and free markets. The basis. You are saying an economic system that has brought more people out of poverty and brought a higher standard of living than any other is the worst thing that has ever happened to humanity. You are saying that's worse than communism.

And if you want to talk about "I've got mine, fuck you" go back to the housing thread I started where these big liberal cities refuse to develop new housing. That's the ultimate fvck you I've got mine. I bought my home already and too bad you weren't born earlier.

...but TODAY'S American conservatism has at its core:

I hope at some point you come to grips with that, ca. You would make a decent addition to the sane side of American politics.

It's be like saying: American liberalism has as its base core the notion, "You've got too much. Give some to me."
I don't have all the stats but I would bet that conservatives have donated as much money to charity as liberals if not more.

I can...and often while golfing, conversations (like this one) come to mind...and I do smile. If you think there is something wrong with that...perhaps it is time for you to lighten up a bit.

Although in the interests of honestly...today's round was HORRIBLE. The worst I've had this year. The only good thing I can say about it is: I did not lose any clubs.

Frank you said before you were 82 and work at a conservative golf course in New Jersey. Maybe you do it because you need the money but if not why work around/for a group people that you want to leave the country and think are the worst thing to happen to humanity?

I said I was 81. Won't be 82 until August.

I do not need the money...although the spending change and free golf at 5 spectacular courses helps.

I love the people I work with...and play golf with...although they are almost all of like age, are male, white, of European heritage...and are conservative as a hemorrhoid.

Because I disagree with them doesn't mean I don't love 'em. My brother, whom I love dearly, makes most of the conservatives in this forum look like leftists. I have three first cousins that I get along with famously...who are ardent American conservatives.

I do not hate you, ca...nor do I want you to leave the country. (Although I would love it if you came to your senses about core values of American conservatism).

My game has gone to hell...but most of the old codgers I play with seem to have the same problem. It has something to do with gray hair...that's all we can figure out.

After the election came the antifas with their violent protests against the first amendment. Now we have CNN with it's daily headlines "news" about a porn star and her 2 bit lawyer who is actually doing a better job investigating nothing than the highly regarded Mueller.
In spite of Trump's negatives, and there are many, he has some real positives - North Korea (yes even the S. Koreans are positive about the latest events), China in trade negotiations, Gorsuch appointment, attempting to enforce existing immigration laws ,repeal of the individual mandate in Obamacare, reigning back on the use of the EPA to circumvent Congress in making illegal laws (see WOTUS) come to the top of my head, not to mention the humming economy. (I admit I don't know enuf about the Iran deal except that we paid a cash ransom to get it and Iran is threatening to expose Euro leaders they bribed to OK it.)
If the election were held today I'd have to vote for Trump. I've talked to several others who never would have voted for him but would today. Don't forget, there are some out there who voted for hrc but now that's she's continually made an ass out of herself since the election I've no doubt there are hrc voters that would vote for Trump today.
and I don't think he'd have any problem winning if the election were held today, especially against his former opponent or against Bernie.

Gorsuch is a corporate shill. Obamacare, while having some deficiencies, was still better than what we've got now. Yet another Trump failure to deliver on campaign promises. The EPA was protecting us from corporate failures and greed. No longer.And does who initiated the Steele dossier negate the information it contains? Trump is a liar and a bully and a braggart. He's done nothing positive. All he's done id tear down anything associated with Obama, without any regard to its actual benefits, and promoted his own wealth, and that of the swamp that he's a part of. He's a malignant narcissist and a wannabe total dictator, the enemy of everything that America stands for.
