Not really. First generation immigrants seldom assimilate. It is only their grandchildren who more assimilate completely. In 1890, there were over a thousand German Newspapers in the US. We still have spanish language newspapers an TV networks which wold suggest that the whole assimilation thing isn't happening the way you seem to think it does.

The government needs to change so immigrants assimilate. Having spanish language every where means there is no need to learn english

A lot of them know a lot more English than people realize. They know what people are saying. They just don't want others to know what they are saying.
 
My reaction to political correctness is to spew out as many European ethnic slurs as possible, because they are ostensibly "white," like me. Plus, I have never found enjoyment in spouting slurs toward non-white peoples.

I relish in the Paddies, taffies, limeys, jocks, frogs, krauts, wops, etc.
