Censure as a way out of an impeachment vote?

Been hearing murmurs about the House censuring Trump instead of sending articles of impeachment to the Senate.

I expect Nancy and the Democrats will be mulling that option over their Turkey and high-end Brandy on Thanksgiving.

Let’s see if Democrats do the smart thing, for a change.

I predict:

(1) Impeachment by the House (the equivalent of a Grand Jury hearing)

(2) Non-conviction and dismissal in the Senate (exoneration).

(3) Landslide victory for President Trump in 2020.

I make no predictions lol.

Except to say I see nothing but trouble ahead for democrats if they press on towards impeaching Trump. To say the televised hearings were not a resounding success—is being charitable. And that went on with Schiff and the democrats calling all the shots.

I can’t wrap my brain around Nancy pulling the trigger when she has an out with censure.

Yes, your prediction of nothing but trouble ahead for democrats if they press on towards impeaching Trump is, in my opinion, accurate.

The swing of 10 points with Independents (nearly 40% of the electorate) against impeachment means t r o u b l e for Democrats.

The smart thing would be to drop it. Censure by the Democrats would be their way of admitting defeat without actually having to say it.

They have a couple of options, all of this now goes over to the Judiciary Committee, who are involved in their own look into the obstruction charges over the Mueller report which was furled by the Roger Stone case testimony.

Currently they have a lawsuit in the Courts over McGhan testifying, and they could table the Ukraine testimony until there is closure to determine if it can be added if there are articles

It all sounds very hopeful lol.

Isn’t censure the safest play though? No risk of putting Hunter Biden or Eric Ciamarella on the stand since that has the potential to get messy for Democrats. They’re already likely to take a hit on the Horowitz report that’s scheduled to drop. And no, it’s not directly related but it’s going to cement the notion in the minds of many independent voters that democrats/The Resistance will stoop to, literally anything, to get rid of Trump.

The ones who have been a little slow on the uptake, anyway. I expect many of them are already there, based on the poll numbers.

And censure would have the advantage of actually being bipartisan since they could probably get a couple republicans on board. As it is, Democrats are risking a Senate vote that would kill the articles before a trial—if it’s strictly partisan.

And btw, didn’t Pelosi say there’s no way an impeachment vote should fall strictly on partisan lines?
