Missouri Republican Senator Josh Hawley announced on Thursday that he is introducing legislation that will dismiss House Democrats’ articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump because of Democrats’ abuse of the Constitution.

Hawley’s announcement comes as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has continued to refuse to send the articles of impeachment to the U.S. Senate because she is concerned that the political trial will be biased.

“Dems said impeachment was URGENT. Now they don’t want to have a trial, because they have no evidence. In real world, if prosecution doesn’t proceed with case, it gets dismissed. So on Monday, I will introduce measure to dismiss this bogus impeachment for lack of prosecution”.

I'd rather see the Senate just change the impeachment rules, allowing them to declare a TRIAL DATE , with or w/o the articles presented...

That’s one of several things the Senate can do.

Or set a trial date and if the House managers fail to appear vote to dismiss for lack of prosecution. Which is exactly what happens when the prosecution fails to appear at a trial.

Put Nancy Pelosi in her place.

Drag it out then and keep them off the campaign trail in Iowa

I don’t believe that Nervous Nancy will hold up under the stress. Her far left loons are driving her batty.

Will we see the men in white coats carrying her out of Congress screaming and yelling, “you **** Democrats got me into this mess.”

There’s certainly some merit to that argument.

Plus a trial would put some ‘interesting’ witnesses on the stand for Republicans. But I think the message needs to be sent to future House leaders not to do ‘drive-by impeachments’ or it will be shut down by the Senate.

Pelosi and the Democrats have set a dangerous precedent where future presidents would basically serve ‘at the pleasure of the House’.

I’m pretty sure that’s not what the founders intended to happen with the impeachment *process*.

The Articles do not even pass muster as high crimes - those Repubs are doing this for their electoral reasons
