As authorities lifted a two-month coronavirus lockdown in the central Chinese city of Wuhan, residents said they were growing increasingly skeptical that the figure of some 2,500 deaths in the city to date was accurate.
Since the start of the week, seven large funeral homes in Wuhan have been handing out the cremated remains of around 500 people to their families every day, suggesting that far more people died than ever made the official statistics.
"It can't be right ... because the incinerators have been working round the clock, so how can so few people have died?" an Wuhan resident surnamed Zhang told RFA on Friday. "They started distributing ashes and starting interment ceremonies on Monday," he said.

Seven funeral homes currently serve Wuhan -- a huge conurbation of three cities: Hankou, Wuchang and Hanyang.
Social media users have been doing some basic math to figure out their daily capacity, while the news website Caixin.com reported that 5,000 urns had been delivered by a supplier to the Hankou Funeral Home in one day alone -- double the official number of deaths.

Some social media posts have estimated that all seven funeral homes in Wuhan are handing out 3,500 urns every day in total.
Funeral homes have informed families that they will try to complete cremations before the traditional grave-tending festival of Qing Ming on April 5, which would indicate a 12-day process beginning on March 23.
Such an estimate would mean that 42,000 urns would be given out during that time.
Another popular estimate is based on the cremation capacity of the funeral homes, which run a total of 84 furnaces with a capacity over 24 hours of 1,560 urns city-wide, assuming that one cremation takes one hour. This calculation results in an estimated 46,800 deaths.
A resident of Hubei province, of which Wuhan is the capital, said most people there now believe that more than 40,000 people died in the city before and during the lockdown.

Yep. Just look at the data here and you know there's just no possible way it can be remotely close to the truth. 79 new cases in China about the same as in Croatia? 5 new deaths, the same as in Egypt? Kinda like when one of those countries' leaders are democratically elected with 90% of the vote. Sure.

Trump is obviously trying to be diplomatic, as well as pushing back on their propaganda the US military

But China (and probably Iran -but def China) are LYING and COVERING UP THE DEATH TOLL

Whatever else is going on in Wuhan China they’re back to making surgical gowns.

We had a shortage of them in December/January. What’s frustrating is their numbers probably have come down but you can’t get the truth out of them.

We’ve spent almost four whole years distracted with Russians and assorted other bullshit only to have lying China put us on the verge of an economic catastrophe.

Trump had it right from the beginning -our biggest foe is China- not Russia.
Of course our sanctions on Russia have caused even more damage -pushing the 2 together into a unified field command ability, etc.

But Trump was onto their game early, while other POTUS (not just Obama) looked the other way
at their malign trade practices.
They just lie -Big Time and Bold Faced-and our press never calls them out;
in fact they parrot their propaganda - happily doing so as long as they can bash Trump with it

What China did or didn't do has no bearing on the fact that Conservatism never took this thing seriously from the start, and now we are living with the consequences of that poor leadership.

We could have removed Trump in February and had someone in there who did take this seriously, but Conservatives just had to coddle and protect Trump, even as Adam Schiff warned of this exact scenario where Trump mismanages a crisis and that results in dead Americans. As many as 200,000 according to Fauci.

200k dead would be the equivalent of 1/3 of Wyoming's entire population.

For pro-lifers, that's a win. :shrug:

I agree; one has to be very skeptical that the number of cases and deaths in the third world shit hole this virus originated in would be lower than in the US. ;)
