I believe Bolton never heard Trump say those things to General Kelly. It's "possible" because Bolton isn't glued to Trump's ass 24/7. Generals usually stay out of this crap, but in a case where Trump is telling the entire world General Kelly is a liar, then it's appropriate for General Kelly to step forward and tell everything he knows about Trump's attitude toward America's war dead.

What four people have denied the story? Bolton didn't deny the story. I simply said he didn't hear it. Neither did you or I.

Notice how Trump is extremely pissed off at General Kelly even though the source of the story wasn't revealed. How does Trump know the source is General Kelly? Because General Kelly was the only one there. Trump knows what he told Kelly and, therefore, Trump knows Kelly is the one who talked. This is proof that not only is the story true, but that Trump knows General Kelly was the source.

It’s not the fact that the story was printed that she confirmed. She confirms that there are at least two independent creditable sources.

Trump says he thinks one of the sources is his former chief of staff, Marine Corps General John Kelly.

Lifelong Republican General Kelly does not strike me as the kind of person who would make this up out of whole clothe.

Also, the fact that Trump's mind automatically wandered to General Kelly suggests Trump has a recollection of these words being spoken to his chief of staff

He says it didn't happen at the meeting. He said it was possible it happened when he wasn't around. He left it open, rightfully, because he wasn't at trump's side 24/7.
