Lets say that the vaccine reduces transmission by 50%. If I have the vaccine, I can still get the virus, I just have a reduced chance of getting the virus. If everyone gets the vaccine, we reduce transmission enough that the virus leaves the human population.
Beyond that, as the virus is continues to live in the human population, it will continue to evolve. That means that you having the virus means that the virus has a higher probability of evolving around the vaccine.

Covid-19 is not the regular flu. There is no known way to eliminate the flu from human populations, so we will just have to get a new flu vaccine every year. It is not a booster shot, but an entirely new flu vaccine against the major strains of that year.

Actually, the point is that Florida panders to the nutters who won't get vaccinated. Cruise ships don't want to be the cause of the next spike in Covid cases and deaths.
First off, because the virus does kill people under 60. Long Covid is more common in people under 60, so it does lifelong damage also. Then there is the point that "natural immunity" is just weaker...
But the most important point is getting Covid-19 means you can spread it to others. The vaccine does not spread Covid-19.
