US Army should just stop wasting their time recruiting in the South.
They are just to fat to fight and defend the nation
You'd be shocked to see what they take. At least from what I saw 25 yrs. ago.

So most of the fattest people in the US live around D.C.? Did I read that right?

Every time in the last 125 or so years that the US military has had a draft, the areas of the country with the highest rejection rates (about one in three draftees were rejected overall) were the South and Eastern urban cities. Health issues both physical and mental were the most common reasons. So, the South had more fat and stupid people, while in cities it tended to be stupid crazy people.
And THIS might be the fattest of all counties in the U.S. Yep,...Big Stacy is so fat she makes up a whole county!

This is so sad. Why on Earth are nearly all of them in the South? Is being obese sort of a culture thing, "It's okay to be overweight"?

That's how, yes, but WHY? It's got to be a cultural thing. You know how Californians are mostly into looking fit and trim? Same with Colorado. Even up here we don't see nearly the obese ppl that we did in Missouri.
Rich and affluent people seemingly get a high rejection rate by military draft boards.

I think it’s cultural, but also poverty, bad food is cheaper.
I was surprised Harris county, TX wasn’t on there. There are a lot of big people here in TX.
I’ve heard that claim before. Fresh fruit and veggies are cheap. Seen what a bag of potato chips costs? Ice cream? You can buy enough bananas to last a week for the same price as a party size bag of potato chips which obese folks can’t stop eating once the bag is opened.

half the counties in the top ten were heavily populated by native Americans, the rest by blacks........in the case of Alaska it was Aleutians East Borough......should have made it obvious.....

Terrible food choices, and more peer pressure to look fit in Malibu, California than in Biloxi, Mississippi, would be my guess.
