Trump Humiliated as Ships Defy U.S. Navy Blockade

Any attempt by US military action to seize control of the Strait would be hard fought and bloody.

Physical control of the Strait of Hormuz would involve US troops seizing three Iranian islands, Abu Musa, Larak, and Kharg.

I very much doubt the American public has the stomach to allow that.

More importantly everyone who has spoken of this on my well curated grapevine says that the US military does not have the capacity to do it. ....though I just posted Prof Pape saying that it is going to try.

Me neither. They've already stated they wouldn't despite all the bullying, bluster and bullshit the Dementia Don posts on Truth Social.

Does this look sane to you?

I'd like to see your source or was it just gossip?

Two U.S. Navy guided-missile destroyers, identified as the Pentagon as the USS Frank E. Peterson (DDG-121) and USS Michael Murphy (DDG-112), passed through the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday, according to three U.S. officials, marking the first transit of American warships through the waterway since the start of the Iran War. The two vessels passed through the strait and entered the Persian Gulf, completing a “freedom-of-navigation mission” and suffering no issues, with the destroyers having since withdrawn, the officials told the Wall Street Journal.

===============================

Notice how first we were told that they were going to clear mines, even though they are poorly suited for that, but that after they were thrown out by the Iranians we are sold the narrative that this was a successful freedom of navigation demonstration.

CENTCOM announced zero breaches of the Iran blockade in the first 24 hours.Maritime tracking firm Kpler identified four Iranian vessels that passed through anyway. This is not a minor discrepancy. The blockade is enforced by over 10,000 personnel and a dozen warships. It is the most visible demonstration of American military power in the region right now.And ships are slipping through it.The gap between what the Pentagon says and what the satellite data shows is the most important number in this story. Not the four ships. The gap.Gandalv /

I have no doubt they had specific orders for the contingency. Odd since, if Trump really wanted to push this, he would have ordered them to go in.
While there would be some risk, the ships have enough defensive systems to ward off attacks while E-2 and AWACS aircraft would be watching for the launch points of missiles and drones for a counterattack.
the more interesting position, imo, is China's who seems to be taking the positions that are all correct which are:

- this is not a war as Trump and Hegseth keep stating
- the US has sought no UN type prohibition or sanctioning of China
- the Strait is international waters and by UN convention and world agreement cannot be blocked by the US or anyone else
- China is not a part of any dispute with Iran a has every right to deal with them in any way they choose
- they will send their ships in to get oil and force the US to commit a war crime if they try to stop or board them

From what has been leaked out that is the position China is taking.

It looks like they plan to push TACO Trump and see if he TACO's again.

Reporter: Iran is not listening to your threats about opening the Strait of Hormuz. Trump: How do you know that? Reporter: Because it’s still blocked. Are they reopening it? Trump: Why do you say that? You don’t know anything.

Meanwhile, US officials claim Iran unable to find mines it laid in strait of Hormuz, report says.
The Americans lie constantly....I see no reason to believe the claim that Iran does not know where its mines are.

TACO/President "Two Weeks" is easier to read than a six-year-old. The problem is that he's like a six-year-old with a loaded gun so must be handled carefully. Usually with flattery and shiny objects. Glittering gold always gets his attention.

He loves to issue big threats, with nothing to back them up…. Reminds me of some kooks here, the Trumpper way!
His hubris is increasing along with his dementia.

We have MAGA morons, but Trump is a MEGA moron. Time for him to "retire". If necessary, via the 25th Amendment.
