Carjackings in DC plunge. Thank you President Trump. Biden failed

Teflon Don

I'm back baby

What a novel idea. When you enforce the law, crime decreases. Biden was either incompetent or didn't care. Take your pick.

Of course the two aren't mutually exclusive

The ones pulling the strings believe in creating a one world order. In order to do so, the USA needed to be taken down.

Not Biden, Democrats...

Crime rates were dropping under Biden and trump's taking credit.

Thanks, Joe!

An opinion piece. What did Trump do?

Well, he's currently running the national guard deployment there to the tune of $1.25 million dollars a day.

They don't seem to have made any real difference though.

As has already been pointed out, crime was dropping before tRump took over. He's just taking credit for other people's work, as is often the case with him.

Democrats did little to stop the crime.
Voters generally trust Republicans more on crime, associating them with strict sentencing and increased law enforcement. However, research indicates that political party control has little, if any, measurable effect on actual crime rates or police funding. The perception of which party is better often depends on political, rather than empirical, perspectives.

Republican Approaches and Perceptions
  • Public Trust: Polls consistently show voters, particularly when concerned about safety, trust Republicans to handle crime better.
  • Strategies: Republicans are strongly associated with a "tough on crime" approach, including supporting stricter sentences, increasing law enforcement funding, and employing, at times, national guards to control urban crime.
  • Party Messaging: The party focuses heavily on crime in campaigns, frequently accusing Democrats of being lenient.

Democratic Approaches and Perceptions
  • Strategies: Democrats often focus on a "serious about safety" approach, prioritizing community policing, addressing root causes of crime (like poverty and education), and supporting specific, targeted law enforcement investments.
  • Response to Criticism: While accused of being soft on crime, research shows Democratic politicians generally do not cut police budgets.
  • Focus on Nuance: Some argue that, while "tough" policies are popular, "serious" approaches focusing on crime prevention and social services are effective alternatives.

What Data Shows
  • No Clear Winner: Research covering over 400 U.S. cities over three decades found that, regardless of whether a Democrat or Republican is in office, crime rates do not differ significantly.
  • Contextual Differences: While some studies suggest high-crime areas are often in Democratic-led cities, others suggest high-violence areas are more common in Republican-led states, highlighting that the data can be interpreted in multiple ways.
  • The "Red" State Reality: Despite the perception that "blue" cities are more dangerous, some data has shown that violent crime rates can be higher in some red states, challenging the assumption that Republican leadership automatically results in lower crime rates.

Ultimately, the belief that one party is "better" at stopping crime than the other is often based on political messaging and personal perception rather than consistent, objective evidence.

I would say there is a clear winner. Boiled down, it's like this:

Republican approach: You commit a crime, you get arrested, tried, convicted, and go to prison, pay a fine, or whatever. Personal responsibility is put at the head of the line. You did the crime, you do the time.

Democrat approach: You commit a crime, it isn't your fault, it's society's fault. We need to modify society so that you have no reason to do a crime. This is deflection and accomplishes nothing. It ignores human nature and muddies the water with equivocation and shifting blame. It argues that personal responsibility is unimportant. That is, in effect, nothing is your fault but rather the group as a whole has failed you.

Missing in the above is that demographics show that certain ethnicities and economic groups tend to commit more crime than others. That just compounds on the above. But the key here is how society deals with crime. Does it punish the criminal who commits it or does it attempt to eliminate what it thinks are the reasons crime occurs?

Ultimately, I doubt you can eliminate the reasons crime occurs but you can clearly focus efforts at eliminating criminals from society as a whole.

Give examples of this.

Finding the roots is a good start at eliminating the crimes.

BTW Republicans caused the reasons for crimes with the War on Drugs, for example. It's the main reason for Black thugs and drug dealers. A reason for dangerous areas.

It's implied in you links saying Democrats are looking at "root causes of crime." That implies they want to stop crime by elimination of what they think are the causes of crime and through 'rehabilitation' of criminals rather than simple punishment by imprisonment and fines.

Way to change the subject!

Nope. Not a change of subject. You keep mentioning the Black thugs. Guess who's responsible for them?

Do you oppose exploring the root cause of crimes?
