The Golden Rule, as stated by Jesus in Matthew 7:12, is: "So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets."
Incorrect. The Golden Rule, as stated in the non-heretical version of the Bible is "Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets."

The correct understanding is that one should treat all others well, not only those who treat him well, and that this is the law, not that this is somehow the only law or a summary of all laws.

It's still a good law, though, and you really should get the wording straight so you don't encounter any additional pitfalls.
