Because Conservatives were tired of voting for milk toast candidates that caved whenever the leftist FAKE media and loony liberals on the left assaulted them causing them to back down on their promises to their constituents.

They like a President who defends the nation's borders and interests regardless of the withering assault by the FAKE media to open our borders up to anyone.

They like a President who fights for the American worker even if it means a short term trade war with nations who block entry into their markets.

That is why I predict he will win re-election in 2020.
 
trumps popularity with repubs is in the 80s. That is very high ,showing that people who are conned are the last ones to admit it or even know it. They are waiting for the millions from Nigeria too.
