If Russia tried to influence our election

Remember when Harry Reid lied about Romney's taxes? When asked about it Reid said "He lost didn't he?"

Who gives a shit?

Romney didn't lose because of Harry Reid.

Romney lost because he was a terrible candidate who is and was openly contemptuous of 47% of the people in this country.

So your sides "ends justifies the means" is OK?

Got it. Love the hypocrisy. :)

Got it. Love the hypocrisy

What is the hypocrisy? Explain yourself.

You're the one who is OK with the GOP conspiring with Russia because "the ends justify the means for me".

That's what you said...now you're trying to find an equivalence because you realized just how deeply you stepped in it.

What the fuck are you talking about?

I said Romney lost because of his 47% remark, not because of Harry Reid.

Just because you said it doesn't make it true. Why should I give you any accommodation that you are correct? You haven't earned that accommodation.

Bottom line is Reid lied about Romney and he basically stated the ends justified the means. That's a fact. You can spin all you want. But, I proved my point and I am finished with you now.

DA RUSSIANS!! rofl...will you people EVER give it up?? Podesta and Mook made it up to excuse Hillary's loss.

A few Russian trolls in a billion dollar election isn't going to change votes

I would say it is pretty safe to say every country in the world tries to influence our elections in one form or another, goes with the territory of being so influential around the globe.

when one of the most liberal leaning CEO's and company allow it to the degree it did with Russia in 2016, under a Democrat President, I think heads should roll.

still waiting

Do you honestly believe that if HRC had done a couple more campaign stops in the upper midwest, it would have cancelled out the brainwashing of Conservatives done on social media by Russian trolls?

Actually, I have time now so I’ll expand now. Exterminator came to the condo this morning!!!!

Anyway….yes, I do think it would have made difference. The reason I feel this way is based on her losing 3 states that could have swung the election by a total of 107,105 votes (MI 11,612, WI 27,257, PA 68,236). She would never have gotten a vote from a decided Trump voter but she could have peeled off some independents who voted for Trump as well as peeled some votes away from Jill Stein (Green Party). Put another way, Trump won Iowa by more votes than Hillary lost WI, MI, and PA. She wasted her time Iowa.

As for brain washing, I reject your premise. Here is why. The brain-washing didn’t work in Minnesota or Virginia. Why didn’t it work? Same campaign by the Russians, same Facebook, same BS stories. You’re correct about the influence of Russian intelligence in our 2016 election. But It was hardly the major cause of Hillary’s defeat. She ran an unfocused campaign (and given the poll numbers, I can’t put all the blame there). This from The Atlantic news magazine:

https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2016/06/hillary-clinton-50-state-strategy/488135/

Now…it wasn’t only her campaign being unfocused. I think Sanders hanging around as long as he did hurt her. I think the over-confident Sanders voters who just assumed Hillary would win without their support hurt her.

Moreover and not-so-much-discussed in the media, I think her collapse on 9/11 during the memorial really hurt her chances quite a bit. When your prospective commander in chief has to be helped into a van, it has a pretty chilling effect on the support I think. And the brazenly false answers that were given for it were equally damaging; she went to Chelsea’s apartment afterword? Really? You almost collapse and then you go to your daughter’s apartment instead of the hospital? That means it was either something that has happened before (which they denied) or that the Presidency meant so much to her that she was willing to endanger her own life to win it. This from NPR:

I hear your frustration and it frustrates me too. It’s a very valuable lesson that the Democrats need to learn sooner rather than later. Taking anything for granted in this climate is a road fraught with peril. Especially when you have a President like we have and supporters are willing to hack your computers, plant false stories in the media and even some who are willing to mail bombs to his political opponents.

Pennsylvania was one of the top 3 states Clinton visited in 2016 according to your list...and she still lost the state by a handful of votes.

Then you're naive.

The list you posted showed Clinton visited PA 15 times in the final month, yet she lost PA...so PA was one of the states she visited the most and ended up losing it.

So why would her visiting Michigan or Wisconsin more in the waning weeks of the campaign have made any difference?

There are times when you simply get beat and there are other times when you don’t take the field and lose. There is no guarantee on winning. But if you are not even going to take the court and the other team wins, you have nobody to blame but yourself.

She was also running against history to some degree. Outside of GHWB in 1988, we have only seen one time where the incumbent party held the oval over two terms in the last 80 years or so; that was in the 30’s under FDR/Truman in 1948.

As for naive…perhaps. I don’t profess to be an expert. I try to let history be my guide.

Not to split hairs because you’re coming at me in good faith but the 15 visits to PA was since she got the nomination on June 7, 2016: Not the last month.

In the last month of the campaign, here was her travel schedule:

=====
Days spent there in final month before election (since Oct. 8):
FLORIDA: 8
OHIO: 5
PENNSYLVANIA: 5
NORTH CAROLINA: 4
NEVADA: 3
MICHIGAN: 3
NEW HAMPSHIRE: 2
IOWA: 1
COLORADO: 1
ARIZONA: 1
VIRGINIA: 0
MINNESOTA: 0

If you’re interested, here is what Trump did since getting the nomination and in the last month before the 2016 election:

=====
Days spent there since clinching nomination on May 26:
FLORIDA: 19
OHIO: 17
PENNSYLVANIA: 14
NORTH CAROLINA: 15
NEVADA: 4
NEW HAMPSHIRE: 9
MICHIGAN: 7
IOWA: 6
COLORADO: 7
VIRGINIA: 10
ARIZONA: 4
MINNESOTA: 1
WISCONSIN: 5

So you may be right. Again, perhaps this is my being naive but I don’t see how you expect to win when you’re not shaking hands with the people, getting to know them, and, simply just showing up….

Bottom line is Reid lied about Romney and he basically stated the ends justified the means.

Reid didn't cause Romney to say his "47%er" remark.

Reid didn't leak the video and audio of Romney saying that.

Romney lost for two reasons:

1) 47% remark
2) "Please proceed, governor"

DA RUSSIANS!! rofl...will you people EVER give it up?? Podesta and Mook made it up to excuse Hillary's loss.A few Russian trolls in a billion dollar election isn't going to change votes

Russian trolls were able to convince you that Clinton was running a cannibalistic, child-sex ring out of the basement of a DC pizza shop (that didn't even have a basement).

So of course Russia was able to manipulate weak-minded people like you into voting for Trump.

Again, perhaps this is my being naive but I don’t see how you expect to win when you’re not shaking hands with the people, getting to know them, and, simply just showing up….

The five second exchange they might have with Clinton is more influential than the 6 months of Russian propaganda shared on their Facebook feed? I don't think so.

Again, there are times when you get beat and there are times when you lose. She got beat.

Trump won some counties in PA with 80% of the vote. Eighty percent. You peel off 3-5 % of that and you may turn the entire state (she lost by only 68,000 votes out of about 6,000,000 that were cast:

I mean look at these margins in some counties (Trump’s numbers are on top)/

An entire list of Clinton’s bloodbath is at:

Obama won the state by 5 points and Hillary lost by about 2 points. Would more campaigning have helped? I doubt it would have hurt.

Agreed. When your opponent is digging a hole, your job is to keep handing them shovels.

No comment on the “weak minded fools” allegation.

My question to you is this: What do you plan on doing about it?

No trap…just a question.
