Rep. Justin Amash, the only congressional Republican to have publicly argued that President Donald Trump has engaged in impeachable conduct, told CNN that high-level party officials have thanked him behind closed doors for his stance on impeachment proceedings against Trump.

I get people sending me text messages, people calling me, saying 'thank you for what you're doing,'" Amash told CNN's Jake Tapper in a wide-ranging interview on "State of the Union" Sunday. "They're not saying it publicly. And I think that's a problem for our country, it's a problem for the Republican Party, it's a problem for the Democratic Party when people aren't allowed to speak out."

...his decision to abandon the party comes after months of escalating criticism not just of Trump but of his own colleagues for their failure to hold the President to account, specifically for the actions detailed in special counsel Robert Mueller's report on the 2016 election and its aftermath.

The guy has got some integrity so kudos to him. But WTF is wrong with the rest? If they are not blackmailable and/or complicate, why are they so dumb-struck?

I have it on good authority that Nancy Pelosi and the Democrat leadership support Trumps reelection behind closed doors.

Integrity? For supporting a police state witch hunt? Shirley you can't be serious.

Because they are there in DC not to represent the ppl who voted for them, but to relish the power and wealth that comes from their positions. They will preserve that at any cost to their integrity and principles. I believe both sides are equally at fault.

I agree and the establishment wing of the Democratic party has become Republican-lite as opposed to sticking to their Progressive roots. They need to go as well and Biden would be the same old same old. Money in politics has poisoned the well and it will not change until there is campaign finance reform which NEVER is addressed. We now have what is openly called a "donor class"...wtf is up with that? I'm guessing not exactly what the founders had in mind.
