Fascism was very popular with Italian conservatives... I think you have assumed a lot. Neither Fascism nor Nazism were liberal.

Even a very cursory historical examination of Fascism would show anyone it is a politic of the right, you still see it today in its control of education and women. So how do you explain the constant attempts by the right to say it is liberal? Everything about the racism and hatred of diversity of the right wing in America says fascism. But obviously the lack of education or the inability to see your own side blinds them.
