Tennessee bans teaching critical race theory in schools

Tennessee banned ideas, not a book.

Tennessee is the latest state to ban teachers from teaching certain concepts of race and racism in public schools, where teachers risk losing valuable state funding if they violate the new measure...

...The legislation, which was amended several times in the final days of the legislative session, takes effect July 1. Among other things, Tennessee's teachers can't instruct that “an individual, by virtue of the individual’s race or sex, is inherently privileged, racist, sexist, or oppressive, whether consciously or subconsciously.”

If they are teaching according to critical race theory, or to critical pedagogy, they should be banned. These methods SPECIFICALLY are intended to indoctrinate, propagandize, and radicalize students into the worst of radical Leftist thinking. That is teachers using this stuff would encourage students to violently protest, incite hate, and act out against those that might differ with them. That isn't education.

I think Tennessee's law was intended to stop this sort of thing but the legislators were not smart enough to fully grasp what they should oppose so they passed a sloppy and inarticulate bill instead.

This link seems to give an even handed pros and cons about the CRT model.

What Is Critical Race Theory, and Why Is It Under Attack?

IMO, the Tennessee government has had a knee jerk reaction over something they don't fully understand. They are reacting to how some people are using CRT, not what it really says. That's like the fucking liberals who want to ban all AR-15 just because a couple of mental cases shot up a place and killed people.

Wouldn't it be better to identify and help the mental cases instead of depriving all Americans of choice? Same for knowledge; less banning, more information.

It would be better to reopen Mental Hospitals. Some countries never closed all theirs.

CRT is Commie bullshit designed to deny black Americans their due heritage and divide Americans in general.

Total garbage.

There were black slaveowners that were more cruel than most white ones. Most people did not own slaves in America.

Marx can be found in any university library.
If you don't want somebody to read Marx, then you're afraid of something.

When discussing philosophy, as opposed to, say, chemistry, you make it clear that you're presenting ideas.
The students must figure out on their own what might possibly be facts as they go through life and gain experiences.
They're only tested on being able to understand the ideas, not on deciding what's true.

Conservatives are TERRIFIED of education because it encourages thinking as opposed to believing.
Absolutely terrified.

Fell swoop defenestration of a cadre of trumptards with this single post. :good4u:

Doesn't belong in American school curriculum.

No way, no how. Das Kapital should be in the library, but not required reading in school.

To note: Karl Marx was a couch-crashing loser that never worked a day in his life.

It seems like he was fun at parties, though.

CRT is some Obama fuckery. It's criminal and he should face consequences.

I come from America, an America with good black Americans with long and proud heritages. There's always bad people.

This trying to pit Americans against each other needs to stop.

Notice the lack of critical thought emblematic of the Trumfuck ^

What critical thought is required, rotten skeet breath motherfucker?

Ol' Skeety-teeth bitch!

You're like a hair above an absolute retard.

Do explain why Marxist bullshit is necessary for children to grow up and become productive adults in America.

It isn't. Change my mind.

Go to sleep. You have fence to fix and rocks to pick up tomorrow.

How'd you know? :awesome:

That doesn't mean I didn't get a liberal education. I did.

It's a good thing. Furthermore, I got mine before leftists took over the colleges and it was very cheap for me.

I got my books and food and gas with 2 part time jobs.

And could still take girls out on the town for dates.

This may be well-intentioned but it sounds like a bad law to me. You can't say someone gets racial privilege even though we are drowning in affirmative action programs that are DESIGNED to give privilege to blacks.

Tennessee like all other un American GQP led states are at war against Democracy and the common decency of humanity at maintaining a society of the lowest achievers in the nation, and also as a disgusting disgrace and failure when it comes to demonstrating their self worth in a productive society which is why these failed states will be a liability on blue states until idiots stop voting against their own interests to be slaves of the un American GOP insurgency of rot.

Thanks for agreeing they are banning ideas.

Why do you think so many Tennessee teachers are so radical they are teaching their kids "to violently protest, incite hate, and act out against those that might differ with them" that the State has to ban them?

BTW, you just listed what Trump did at every rally and claims he'll do again this summer. :)

Agreed, but I forgive Matt/Wolverine. He means well at heart and it's not his fault a few screws have worked their way loose over the years.

Agreed on this point, but not because oppressive, authoritarian State leaders seek to ban ideas they don't like. The recent California murder of 9 people points out 1) their gun laws don't work and 2) they are shitty at treating the nutjobs for their mental problems.

It's not just a medical issue; it's primarily a legislation and funding issue.

So? It's banning ideas.

Democrats fucked up for decades by empowering the federal government to impose laws banning/restricting ideas. Once the power is given to government, they rarely give it back. The Republicans used the same fucked up rules during the Trump administration.

Now Tennessee has passed legislation banning ideas. What happens in 5 or 20 years when it's a blue or purple state? Since the State legislature has the power and the precedent is set, do you think the Democrats will show any fucking restraint in using that power?
