Hello T. A. Gardner,
https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/story?id=121856&page=1
Most of it wasn't "gifts." That's just a dodge the MSM used to lessen the damage by this scandal.
I read the article you linked. Thank you. Naturally, I get a very different perception from it than you did.
This stood out for me:
“The property is being returned to government custody until such time that the issues can be resolved. It may well turn out that that property is rightly the personal property of the Clintons.”
There is no mention that anything which had been in the WH at the time the Clintons moved in was taken. The articles in dispute were all donated during the Clinton presidency.
The dispute is over the intent of the donator. Was it intended that these items were donated to the Clintons as personal property? Or were they donated to the WH to become government property.
Also, you've picked out a specific article from a point in time, which does not tell the whole story, the full timeline, or the final resolution of the dispute.
I have a strong feeling that there is a a significant discrepancy between your impression of the matter and that the actual full story.
I would venture that this is a demonstrably false statement:
" The Clinton's were also the only first couple in the history of the US to loot the White House on leaving. They ended up settling with the National Park Service for $92,000 over that one..."
They did not "loot the White House." They took nothing that had been there when they arrived.
And they did not "ended up settling." The story you linked clearly said some items were in dispute and their dissolution would be resolved. The story you linked was clearly not the end of it.
