War with China

BullShit.....oil is a global commodity....nobody gets to set their own buying prices. It is true that Russia and China argued for about a decade over prices, but these now blood brothers have worked it out.
There may have been some translation issue here. What I meant is that the domestic gasoline prices in China are set by the government. There might have been some imprecision in my wording that made you think I was referring to the price of imported crude oil.

Thanks to computer science, using English has become so easy that it makes some Americans suspect I am American.
But in fact, I am not.
Its that you are so often wrong, and the direction that you are wrong, that is the problem.

Plus Chinese people are not free to speak freely to the outside world (or even inside of China for that matter) , if you are Chinese you have to be a CCP agent even if you are not currently in China.....the Party has very long arms.

China's oil prices have always been set by the government. When prices rise, the government delays the increase; when prices fall, it also delays the decrease. This mechanism has been in place for decades. There is no shortage. In fact, China's total oil imports in March fell only 2.8% compared to March 2025, and even rose 4% compared to February 2026.

Right, losing 56% of your supply has no impact at all....

ROFL

The Great Firewall exists, but you do not understand how it works. It blocks a considerable number of websites, essentially all major Western social media platforms. But not all websites are on the blocking list. For example, CNN is not blocked. And of course, this forum is also not blocked. No VPN is needed at all to connect directly to this forum.

The after market sales of bonds have zero impact on the issuer.
If I can make a huge profit off of buying a slightly older bond, I will have to be offered a huge profit for a new bond. Beyond that, if bonds are not rolled over, the issuer has to pay more to find new buyers.

If the issuer is no longer issuing bonds, it all does not matter... But we all know that trump is going into extreme deficits.

At maturity, the issuer will remit the principle and stated interest to whomever holds the bond.
God, I hope not. That would be a disaster. Hopefully, most bonds will be rolled over.

"Affected by the US-Iran conflict, the Strait of Hormuz has effectively nearly closed. In March, China imported 122.6 million barrels of crude oil from the six Gulf countries (Saudi Arabia, Iraq, UAE, Oman, Kuwait, Qatar), a 25% decrease compared to March 2025. This information was released by the General Administration of Customs on April 20.

Overall, China's crude oil imports remained stable at 362 million barrels in March, a modest 2% decrease year-on-year. The sharp decline in crude oil imports from the six Gulf countries was largely driven by four countries: Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Kuwait, and Qatar, with decreases of 30.7%, 46%, 52.3%, and 64.5% respectively. Imports from the UAE remained largely unchanged, while imports from Oman surged by 44%, partly offsetting the contraction from the other four countries. This was mainly because Oman's export terminals are located outside the Strait of Hormuz.

Additionally, the shortfall in crude oil imports was partly compensated by Russia, China's largest source of imports. In March, China imported 74.527 million barrels of crude oil from Russia, a 13.3% increase year-on-year."

Trump also plans to visit China. Whether the Iran war was originally designed to increase the leverage against China in negotiations is impossible to confirm. But things are a mess! We would rather none of this had happened, and that Mr. Trump could visit China in a pleasant mood.

I dont know that this is happening.

The Chinese are basically......or exactly.....calling us terrorists.

Trump is going to face that?

I tend to doubt it.
Actually, this morning I passed by a park and overheard some people in their sixties and seventies discussing the Iran war. They did say that the United States now acts like terrorists. This is unusual, because those born in the 1960s are, among all Chinese society, the group that holds the most favorable or positive attitude toward the United States.

The Chinese over the last few years have often been very vocal about the suckage of the Americans.

Trump is going to face that?
