"High crimes and misdemeanors" is a phrase from Section 4 of Article Two of the United States Constitution: "The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors."

The Constitution gives Congress the authority to impeach and remove "The President, Vice President, and all civil officers of the United States" upon a determination that such officers have engaged in treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors.

And for the sake of the presidency it needs to be dismissed.

This is lowering the bar on impeachment—and then lowering it again. Just by having the Senate trial it would lend credence to it; then all it would take to impeach the next president is for the opposing party to hold the House so they can ‘craft’ abuse of power articles. And around we go.

This needs stopped in its tracks.

ideally it will be dismissed for lack of a "impeachable offense" (high cime and misdemeanor)
