Businesses have been sitting on mounds of cash that they haven't invested because without sufficient consumer spending to provide a sufficient return on investment there's no reason to invest. The rich continue to restrict consumer spending by sucking up most of the income for themselves, which, of course, limits economic growth, thus reducing their own increase in wealth.
