God damn Indians and Democrats

Most people often mistakenly refer to our nation as the greatest democracy on earth. They are mistaken because we are not an absolute democracy; we are a constitutional republic. That is what makes our nation great, for if we were merely a democracy, we would be anything but great. And to the extent that we no longer function as a constitutional republic, that greatness is rapidly ebbing away.

Why did we need a constitution? Why are popular elections not a sufficient means of preserving liberty?

A pure unbridled democracy is a political system in which the majority enjoys absolute power by means of democratic elections. In an unvarnished democracy, unrestrained by a constitution, the majority can vote to impose tyranny on themselves and the minority opposition. They can vote to elect those who will infringe upon our inalienable God-given rights. Thomas Jefferson referred to this as elected despotism in Notes on the State of Virginia (also cited in Federalist 48 by Madison):

The old Trump was right about crime, race, and ...
https://www.conservativereview.com/news/the-old-trump-was-right...
1 day ago · On Thursday, coinciding with Kanye West’s visit to the Oval Office, President Trump made a bizarre and shocking comment that we need to support legislation that, among other things, retroactively releases drug traffickers, because it “is very unfair to African-Americans.”. The comment was bizarre because Trump previously mocked the purveyors of this talking point for the simple reason ...

Dumbfuck, a democracy is less likely to have a Constitution.

Sailor kindly identified for us the five countries that do not have codified constitutions:

Britain, Canada, New Zealand, Israel, Saudi Arabia.

Every other sovereign state on earth has a constitution. Several dozen at least of those states are unquestionably democracies; that is, they are democracies and have constitutions.

So your claim above that a democracy is less likely to have a constitution is patently false; or in terms that you may find more understandable, CRAP.

A democracy doesn't need one dumbass...isn't it one man one vote? Rule of law doesn't apply. admit it.

So, auditions were held and The Madison Project was formed. From there, things exploded. Apart from our group growing in number and talent, other a cappella groups were formed at JMU, bringing us now to 8 total groups on campus.

Nothing you posted changes the fact that we are a constitutional republic and not a democracy! you are a stupid mewling quim!

The difference dick head,is criminals and such disqualify themselves.
Republicans disqualify honest minorities that won't vote Republican!

The problem with that is this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Felony_disenfranchisement

They don't ALWAYS disqualify themselves, and you boneheads are on a crusade to register anything with(or without)a pulse. And we as republicans really would like to disqualify ANYONE, minority or not, who does not meet the requirements to participate in our electoral process.

Proponents have argued that persons who commit felonies have 'broken' the social contract, and have thereby given up their right to participate in a civil society. Some argue that felons have shown poor judgment, and that they should therefore not have a voice in the political decision-making process
I think this sums up the conservative position pretty well...douche nozzle(sorry for the incivility there, maybe we can be nicer to each other when the election is over)

Well Pocahontas could vote there she's European you know

Anyone who would demean the name Pocahontas has no concept of the history of the North American land mass or of the nation. She was wrong about the euros, welcomed them, and died in captivity in Britain. Turns out King Phillip was right about the euros that came to ethnically cleanse the land.

Pocahontas can suck my dick. So can Fauxcahontas.

Your colleague said: "We have a constitution. Democracies don't."

Do you agree?

A democracy has no constitution. It is mob rule. They usually fail very quickly, falling into an oligarchy or an outright dictatorship form of government. A republic has a constitution. That is actually the definition of a republic.

These terms come from ancient Greece and ancient Rome.

you are lying

evrey study including a five year one under Bush says you are a fucking liar

Yea well if Democrats, who significantly outnumber Republicans actually got off their asses and voted in midterms then there would be this problem, would there?

That would require the party to run candidates who offered something different that the corporatism we can all get with republicans anyway. Not at all likely.

Well googled, Sailor. Canada and NZ are because they copied the UK.

That leaves Israel and KSA. They must be the democracies that don't have a constitution, eh?

I leave you and 'Into the Night' with this thought: even Nazi Germany and Stalin's Russia had constitutions.

False dichotomy. Both Canada and the UK are oligarchies. Israel is a theocracy. Nazi Germany had no constitution. It was a dictatorship. Stalin's Russia had no constitution. It was a dictatorship. Today's Russia is an oligarchy.

Only republics have constitutions.
