Trump's White House ballroom gets final approval despite judge's ruling halting work

Trump didn’t stack the Commission with ass kissers for nothing

And one can object when that supposedly private donations ballroom without notice or formal approval began the demolition of a national landmark. I suppose if Trump overnight began tearing down the Washington Monument you tell us it was nothing to complain about
Apparently same as Obama, Clinton, etc.

A POTUS should always fill his/her administration with allies, so as to better put forth the will of the people.

I'm sure our nation's guests will prefer the INDOOR BALLROOM to tents and folding chairs in the mud.

The East Wing itself is a Presidential "add-on"....

Not since both Congress and the Executive enacted major Committees and procedures in the 1960's which all POTUS are to submit all such major renovations to.

But feel free to embarrass yourself and try and show any such major scale renovation since that point. Yes prior they happened as there was not formal process and it was entirely up to the POTUS discretion.
Trump does get shit done.

Try not to be so stupid.

Obama and Clinton built ballrooms? When did that happen?

Agree, advisers true, but not ass kissers who are too afraid to tell Trump he might be wrong, Rubio doesn’t wear the clown shoes cause he likes them

They don’t have to meet on the lawn, DC is full of available applicable spaces, no Inauguration Ball was ever held in the mud

Yeah, a hundred plus years ago, and TR just didn’t pull in the wrecking crews one day much to the surprise of everyone

What a fuckhead you are; can't read? They both made changes , as have multiple other POTUS'.

The building of the East Wing was a presidential add-on...taxpayer funded.

You prefer our guests to sit in the mud, under a tent, on folding chairs...how classy.

Trump is a much better host than previous presidents.

NONE were privately funded, as is the ballroom, thx to Pres. Trump.

Whereas, this monstrosity will cost the taxpayers at least $200 million :

With multiple chiefs of state or dignitaries security is a very real concern. The White House grounds can be secured most other venues can't be fully secured.

“changes,” changes reviewed and approved beforehand, are not quite the same as showing up with wrecking crews to the surprise of everyone and beginning demolition

I do not care where guests sit, as I said, applicable spaces are available, what I do question is the audacity of just tearing down parts of a historical building without at least acknowledging established procedures. As I said, what if tomorrow Trump decides the Washington Monument has to go and quickly tears it down, you going to tell us that is copacetic?

And as we’ve seen in the past, many of Trump’s supposed private donations never really materialize, or if they do, at a cost

Perhaps a point, but how many dignitaries have, or need, events that draw crowds large enough to build a questionable ballroom? Is the demand really there for such?

Yes, porta-potties (or "restroom trailers") have been used for large events and state dinners held in tents on the South Lawn, as reported in October 2025 news sources. These temporary facilities were required for guests when events were held in temporary structures rather than within the White House itself

Another district judge bitch-slapped.

Only morons would object to a major, PRIVATELY-FUNDED badly-needed upgrade to the White House's hosting status.....

Trump's White House ballroom gets final approval despite judge's ruling halting work

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump's White House ballroom won final approval from a key agency on Thursday, days after a federal judge ordered a halt to construction unless Congress allows what would be the biggest structural change to the American landmark in more than 70 years.

The National Capital Planning Commission, the agency tasked with approving construction on federal property in the Washington region, went ahead with the vote because U.S. District Judge Richard Leon's ruling on Tuesday affects construction activities, not the planning process, commission spokesperson Stephen Staudigl said.

We should send you the bill for knocking it down in a few years.

Again, why is it needed? As I noted, DC has other applicable spaces, many of which have been used in the past, and given it is Trump, the private donations pitch is questionable, why wouldn’t a company donate some now knowing they will get much more later in return.
Again security is easier on the White House grounds. Why wouldn't a company donate to a Democrat knowing they will get much more in return?

As I said, no doubt, the East Room holds up to 200 guests, if one is worried about security it fits perfectly

They may, however, with Trump, it is nearly a guarantee, Qatar’s controversial AI chips shorty after their plane “gift” wasn’t thought of as pure coincidence by many

We are not a country controlled by Imperial Judges. This legal insurrection needs to stop. Now!
Ever hear about equal branches, Trumplestilskin? Do checks and balances mean anything to you? You believe in an imperial presidency today. When a Dem gets back in will you think the same?
I kid. Of course you won't.

Yes. Here a lowly district court judge singularly decided what executive branch policy and actions should be. The judge was interfering with the executive branch's powers.

I believe it is a lie, if there were private donations, are those parties still interested?
