I am a northerner that moved to Louisiana about 3 years ago. I was sitting at the bar at a local restaurant and got to talking to a black woman sitting next to me and she told me that her father always warned her to be careful of the old white guys. This is why I say when the boomers are gone a lot of races and will be gone. There are still younger racists so it won't be all gone. Each passing generation things get better and better.
About 7 years ago my son and I were in Natchez on a little road trip and we were walking down the sidewalk and a black woman was walking towards us she was very old and very gnarled. We went to single file to allow her room to pass on the sidewalk but even if that she stepped out into the gutter to walk around us. We went to a bar for dinner down the street and there was three people behind the bar two whites and a black, young people. I was watching how they interrelated amongst the three of them and it was all is equals there was no subservience by the black and there was no attitude from the whites they all work together as a team equally. I am hopeful for the future but it will take some generations yet.
