US steel drops plan for $1.5 billion plant

US Steel has announced it's dropping its plan to expand a Pennsylvania steel mill to supply the auto industry. They're citing a combination of foot dragging by local building officials and the Biden administration push on Gorebal Warming.

They're also dropping a plan to frack natural gas to supply this plant adjacent to it due to the Biden administration.

So much for American jobs from the Biden administration. Good paying jobs gone in a state hurting for good paying jobs. Maybe Pennsylvanians will remember this come 2022...
LOL, they did it to create competition amongst states for their mills, they want incentives, like bigger tax breaks to build.

The bolded is crucial messaging to get out. I agree that we shouldn't be referring to what happened on November 3rd (and weeks afterward) as an "election" in any way/shape/form. Biden was installed, not elected, and I like what Trump is doing, hereby referring to the event as The Big Lie.

Shocking, another denier, admit it, no election anywhere is ever going to be accepted by you as legitimate unless your candidate wins, I do believe adolescents have a term for that type behavior

People will find work in the new, useful, eco-friendly industries. Filth-producers should have been phased out some time back. Too bad for the polluting bosses- and their disreputable shareholders- but hey, there's no planet B.

Yes, it is a Big Lie, because the election was fair. Trump has always been The Biggest Liar!

According to the article, US Steel sais it was canceling its plans because “the world has changed in the two years since it announced its intentions. Biden has been President for four months, so, how is this his fault?

One of the ways it changed is Biden got elected. One of the first things he did is ban fracking on federal land. Since he's clearly moving towards the Green New Deal which for US Steel means it's likely better to build in another country where they won't be facing onerous pollution rules.

Not necessarily, and they may not find work at all. Steel is a basic commodity that we need to continue to have the society we live in. You can't just make it go away and still have things made from steel.

The question is: How much pollution should we accept or allow? What's your answer?

Biden plans to only buy American, that would be a stupid move on their part. All future Presidents, if they really care about America first should do the same.

Not true, the company clearly said events over two years, not over four months, you are reframing facts to fit your argument

Biden can wish in one hand... If the only place to get the steel is from a foreign nation then what? If the companies making it refuse to build a plant in the US then what? Biden can't make companies build here and if he gives them every incentive not to they won't. If Biden raises taxes on corporations through the rafters and they leave, then what? He can say "Buy American" all he wants but if his actions hurt American corporations then they'll leave for friendlier shores. He can't have it both ways. That's what doomed Detroit.

They started two years ago on this. The local building officials were foot dragging on permits and such. Now Biden is in office on top of that. They decided it wasn't worth pursuing further. Biden was the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back.

The society has to change. Its demands for polluting products has to be curbed. We all need to be a lot more clever than we are. We've allowed greed to degrade our intellectual advantages.

That didn't answer the question. It's not that we shouldn't reduce pollution, but how much pollution should we allow? How much?

Wisconsin just got done holding some elections (of which I believe to be valid elections) this Spring... In some of them, Demonkkkrats won; in others, Republicans won.

There are many ways to combat companies going overseas. Biden’s infrastructure plan could incentivize US Steel to rethink their decision.

But it doesn't. Biden also wants to raise corporate taxes well above other nations. He's against fracking. He's come out in favor of far stricter pollution controls on a very short timeframe. If anything Biden is deincentivizing corporations expanding in America, particularly ones that do heavy manufacturing like steel. It's the same pattern that drove the aerospace manufacturing industry out of California. Hell, even Musk is moving Tesla out of that state as much as he can because physical manufacturing is just too difficult to do in that regulatory nightmare of a state.

There are so many imbeciles here, they are all vying for top spot!
