Yep. My Plasma cost me $2500. Nothing in your suggested price range can come close to matching the picture quality.
I bought a nice 50" for my bedroom for $500, no comparison to my ZT60.
That is true, and hi-end sports cars have carbon fiber bodies, but look at what those cars cost. Those prices aren't coming down.
Of course you're comparing TV technological advancements. Carbon fiber is cutting edge tech.
For once I agree with you. But making carbon fiber requires some specialized furnaces to make the fiber in and uses a ton of electricity in the process. That means another industrial use solar and wind won't support.
The resins used with carbon fiber require oil, that evil fossil fuel. Making it go away will make the resin more expensive.
So, in one sense, carbon composites are at odds with the radical environmental / Green front and their unscientific and illiterate view of technology.
