so tell me how Zuckerberg thrilled you......

Our ruling
McCain said that there was a strong equivalence between how the Obama and Trump campaigns accessed user data on Facebook.
The Obama campaign and Cambridge Analytica both gained access to huge amounts of information about Facebook users and their friends, and in neither case did the friends of app users consent.
But in Obama’s case, direct users knew they were handing over their data to a political campaign. In the Cambridge Analytica case, users only knew were taking a personality quiz for academic purposes.
The Obama campaign used the data to have their supporters contact their most persuadable friends. Cambridge Analytica targeted users and their friends directly with digital ads.

Whereas the data gathering and the uses were very different, the data each campaign gained access to was similar. We rate this statement Half True.

the Obama campaign did not do what Cambridge analytical did you lying shits

Here's your other source straight from the mouth of Carol Davidsen, Obama's director of integration and media analytics..................

Some of the interesting storylines from yesterday being discussed locally are the Silicon Valley vs. D.C. and the young (Zukerburg/tech) vs. the old (U.S. Senators).

The Silicon Valley and tech world vote overwhelmingly Democratic but at the same time they do have a libertarian streak in them. So far they have been able to avoid the massive regulations from D.C. most other industries face but clearly that could be changing.

Curious...does everyone here post on Facebook? When you post, do you really think that what you post is in any way really "private" or
secret? If Cambridge analytics has your name and targets you wit ads based on what you lie and follow...do you care? Did you vote in elections based on ads you saw on Facebook (and if so, that's your problem, not Facebooks...)?When you shop at the grocery store and use digital coupons, the store keeps that data and offers specific deals and coupons based on your buying habits. You aren't forced to buy the products they suggest. It's a personal decision. What's the problem here?
What's the point of all this congressional questioning but to score political points?....Most of the "questioners" clearly have no knowledge of how FB (or the internet) works....
Eshoo? God bless you...she is clearly not well;(

I listened to about 45 minutes of it. Seems to me that that the dems hated him because he(and Putin, of course)was responsible for Trump's victory, and the GOP guys hated him because his outfit is nothing but a nest of neo-communist leftist HRC supporters. My opinion? My birthday was last month. My facebook feed was BOMBARDED by ads for T-shirts and coffee mugs and all manner of trinkets all based upon the central theme of "Never underestimate an old man who was born in March and________________". Such as, "Never underestimate an old man who was born in March and rides a motorcycle", or "Never underestimate an old man who was born in March and drives a Ford Mustang!" Or my favorite, "Never underestimate an old veteran who was born in March and rides a motorcycle and drives a Ford Mustang!" Hilarious! And I would have to be a real idiot to think that these people got this information anywhere else than my very own little corner of the internet, facebook. My page is full of this stuff! And I think I've seen ads on there for GOP candidates, which I ignore, but at least I don't get ads for democrats(which would be a REAL waste of bandwidth). The trade off is, I've met up with old friends that I've known since elementary school. It's nothing but extremely focused advertising, it's how Zuckerburg makes money. There was a lot of "I wasn't aware of that" answers though, like when Diamond and Silk's postings were labeled "unsafe for the community". But he's got a shitload of people who essentially censor submissions for the expressed purpose of filtering out violence, obscenity and terrorist related content(not doing a real good job on some of this stuff), and dems ought to be happy with that! Right? Who needs more government oversight when the musings of two conservative black women are deemed "unsafe for the community"
