so tell me how Zuckerberg thrilled you......

Some of the interesting storylines from yesterday being discussed locally are the Silicon Valley vs. D.C. and the young (Zukerburg/tech) vs. the old (U.S. Senators).

The Silicon Valley and tech world vote overwhelmingly Democratic but at the same time they do have a libertarian streak in them. So far they have been able to avoid the massive regulations from D.C. most other industries face but clearly that could be changing.

I think they might whimper about it for a few minutes and then settle in comfortably to whatever big brother says, and watch without emotion as the libertarian streak dies

It's interesting, being here on the West Coast we are obviously far away from D.C. both figuratively and literally as far as tech firms are concerned. I actually think you'll see these firms fight to keep regulations away from them as much as possible. Especially the big boys who saw what Microsoft went through and how they are going after google. Ideology is out the window at this point, it's all about business.

I listened to about 45 minutes of it. Seems to me that that the dems hated him because he(and Putin, of course)was responsible for Trump's victory, and the GOP guys hated him because his outfit is nothing but a nest of neo-communist leftist HRC supporters. My opinion? My birthday was last month. My facebook feed was BOMBARDED by ads for T-shirts and coffee mugs and all manner of trinkets all based upon the central theme of "Never underestimate an old man who was born in March and________________". Such as, "Never underestimate an old man who was born in March and rides a motorcycle", or "Never underestimate an old man who was born in March and drives a Ford Mustang!" Or my favorite, "Never underestimate an old veteran who was born in March and rides a motorcycle and drives a Ford Mustang!" Hilarious! And I would have to be a real idiot to think that these people got this information anywhere else than my very own little corner of the internet, facebook. My page is full of this stuff! And I think I've seen ads on there for GOP candidates, which I ignore, but at least I don't get ads for democrats(which would be a REAL waste of bandwidth). The trade off is, I've met up with old friends that I've known since elementary school. It's nothing but extremely focused advertising, it's how Zuckerburg makes money. There was a lot of "I wasn't aware of that" answers though, like when Diamond and Silk's postings were labeled "unsafe for the community". But he's got a shitload of people who essentially censor submissions for the expressed purpose of filtering out violence, obscenity and terrorist related content(not doing a real good job on some of this stuff), and dems ought to be happy with that! Right? Who needs more government oversight when the musings of two conservative black women are deemed "unsafe for the community"

Hillary and the Democratic Party are responsible for Hillary's loss, but they can never come to face that.

Going after google and facebook is fine with me, make them lie openly in public.

Here's your other source straight from the mouth of Carol Davidsen, Obama's director of integration and media analytics..................

I just don't get the uproar. Anyone remember their mailboxes pre-internet just before an election? My mailbox used to be overflowing with mailers from candidates from every party that existed! Now I get a few from the RNC, mostly local candidates. Got nothing from Trump in '16, and I ignored everything on the internet. How about you hillary humpers out there? what did you guys get?

Poor little Zuck needed a booster seat.

Curious...does everyone here post on Facebook? When you post, do you really think that what you post is in any way really "private" or
secret? If Cambridge analytics has your name and targets you wit ads based on what you lie and follow...do you care?

What an interesting and hypocritical post. You definitely have used the "nothing's private on FB" justification for "borrowing" other forum ppls' photos and sharing them around, eh? As far as following lies, the fact that you regularly quote talking points from far RW sources, including Fox, tells us all we need to know about your virtue signalling. I'm sure that those questioning Zuckerberg and the other FB execs know a whole lot more about how the Internet works than you do.

As far as signing up for FB or any other social media site, it's wise to give them the very least amount of information possible. Facebook and most other sites collect metadata which is shared with other entities that use it for various purposes, mostly ad-targeting and marketing. JPP does the same thing. Ever notice the ads and how they seem to be about things you've looked at or talked about elsewhere?

Maybe Zuckerberg will donate some of his 20,000 new hate speech mods to shut down these republican losers here?

FB's standards definitely need work. Two or three years ago one of my IRL friends posted about someone's FB group that was open to the public. It had all kinds of white supremacists infesting it, copious use of the N word, and graphic photos of lynched black people, people being burned (presumably alive), and clamors to do the same to Obama and any and all blacks as well as white who supported him. Some posted photos of current black politicians with graphic descriptions of how they'd like to murder them. My friend was asking others to report both the posts and the page. I did so, along with many others. The only response from FB was that none of that violated their community standards. But a week later, the page was gone. A couple ppl said that they reported it to law enforcement, so maybe that's why.

Lets be very clear here; Zuckerberg is no idiot. He knows that he has ZERO competition right now. The best way to ensure that no one ever threatens his business is through Government regulation.

Government regulation will not hurt Zuckerberg and Facebook; it will ensure their monopoly into the future. He's just hoping he can control the deciders.

I'm surprised I get junk mail from Douchebag Donald. I guess it's based upon how visibly establishment that I am, so they feel I am a safe bet. But I have never responded to anything with his name attached, and during the primary, I returned a priority mailer—to be paid for by the addressee—with a "fuck you" penny in it. They must not have been able to track it correctly, or something.

Yeah, I can see that happening. When in doubt, they mail it out
