so tell me how Zuckerberg thrilled you......

what did he say that restored your hope for the future of social media?......

Nothing today...maybe he will tomorrow. He still seems to want to be the judge, jury & executioner of the type of speech/content that occurs on FB. He had a hard time with yes & no questions.
And, no knock against him, but I don't see how anybody can have a reasonable expectation of privacy. Information will be shared and/or posted in other places and by many means.

yep. if you want privacy don't use social media.
It's more complex than that of course; bt that's what it comes down to

I didn't watch all of it, but something that struck me is that Facebook views "the information that people share" as "anything we can get our grubby little fingers on from whatever source and by whatever means available" as opposed to "the information that people consciously decide they want us to have and no more than that".

I noted that he said he would not cooperate with a vetting system that required refugees to disclose their social media......

agreed....apparently anything you share with your friends includes FB and whoever they decide to sell it to you......ironically, as I listened to him testify I sat down with my lap top and edited my "preferences" to exclude everything I was allowed to.....

I use Facebook (and this site for that matter) with the full realization that someone might know more about me than they should. It’s a risk I take.

experts to watch and make sure they don't collect and sell info they gleaned by people talking to each other
